Sligo RFC 26 Creggs RFC 20
Creggs U15’s produced a very good second half performance on Sunday morning in Sligo and could very well have come away with a victory in what was a very entertaining encounter. Creggs were short a few regulars and after taking an early 3-0 lead after a penalty from Mark Purcell, and they were unlucky shortly afterwards when good work up front from Luke Divilly, Jack Tucker and Lorcan maher set up a good opportunity for Aaron Lyons who beat the first defender but just lost the ball going over the line in the tackle, it was Sligo who took control for the rest of the first half scoring 3 unanswered tries to have a 19-3 half time lead. Creggs began the second half well and scored a try through Jack Tucker after 2 minutes but Sligo responded well when a long kick up field wasn’t dealt with by Creggs and Sligo ran in unopposed to stretch the lead to 26-8 . Creggs really upped their game after that and scored an excellent try through Jack Crehan in the corner after a brilliant offload by Lyons and then scored again through Darren Gately in the corner after a very good cross field kick by Glennon which Mark Purcell converted to leave the score 26-20 with 5 minutes remaining. Creggs continued to attack and Ben finnerty was unlucky with the last play when he just ran out of room heading for the corner to leave the home side victorious. U15 Training continues next Thursday at 7pm in Creggs and Creggs will travel to Sligo to play the same opposition next Sunday at 12pm in a refixed fixture.
