U14 win over Dunmore

U14 win over Dunmore

Creggs RFC U.14 girls played Dunmore on Sunday in Creggs. The game started brightly for Creggs when Lily Higgins picked up the ball from the back of a scrum and brushed off a few tackles to score the first try of the game. Higgins converted her own try going 7 ahead. Creggs scored again when they got a penalty on the Dunmore 22 and Lana Cox took the tap and passed to Mia Dolan who was stopped just short of the line. Keeva Glennon picked up the quick ruck ball and barged over the line for the try and Higgins converted again. Half- time left the score at 14-0.

The game was back and forth in the second half as both teams gave their all. Creggs were growing into the game but Dunmore’s defence was excellent , where they held Creggs up over the line on one occasion and due to defensive pressure Creggs had a knock on just before they touched down. 15 minutes into the second half all the Creggs pressure paid off when Higgins again picked from the back of the scrum and powered over the line to score her second try of the day. This time the kick against a strong wind proved to much. Dunmore were never going to give up though, and they got a try back with 8 minutes left on the clock. The Creggs defence worked hard to try and see the game out but Dunmore got in for one more score. The game finished with a Creggs win 19- 12.

Well done to both teams who played their hearts out on a wet and windy day.
