Club History
Club Founded: 1974

Creggs Rugby Football Club is located right alongside the County border between Counties Galway and Roscommon, about eight miles from Roscommon Town.
Creggs RFC was formed in 1974 and and is celebrating our 50th. Anniversary this year.
Success came early, winning the Connacht Junior Cup in 1978 and over the years the club won a number of Junior Cups and League titles. A couple of seasons in the All-Ireland League (Division 4) in the mid-1990’s also followed.

In the past decade in particular, great work at Mini and Youth grades is proving a success with growing numbers and competitive in all age groups in the top level in Connacht.

For the 2023-24 season the club has field a First Senior Team in the top Connacht Junior 1A Division, winning that Connacht J1A League and the Creggs Seconds will complete in Division 1C, winning that title too. The First Team go forward to the AIL Play-Off Semi-Final, and our Seconds Team have won promotion to J1B next season. The Seconds also are in the Connacht J1C Cup Semi-Final.
After a previous glorious years back in the 1990’s, we fielded a senior ladies team this season for the first time in decade. With the success and numbers involved in Mini and Youths level, the future looks bright for Ladies Rugby in Creggs.

In out Boys Youths section, we fielded at Under-17’s, Under-16’s, Under-15’s, Under-14’s, & Under-13’s, as well Under-14 Girls, Under-16, and U-18 Girls.

In our Creggs MINI Rugby section, we will have teams at: Boys – Under-7, Under-8, Under-9, Under-10, Under-11, & Under-12; with Girls: Under-10 and Under-12. All Under-8 Girls train with the boys.

From this summer (2024) our new gym and dressing-rooms will be available. These new facilities along with the first full-size IRB approved 4G rugby playing pitch in Connacht (in place since September 2018), as well as our three sand-based grass pitches (and of course ‘The Green’, which remains our main sand-based grass pitch,) gives us every opportunity to grow our playing numbers and prepare well at all age levels.
Other ground works, local amenity provisions, and a new clubhouse/ community room will also be open this summer. Plans for developments involving the upgrading of the old dressing-rooms, adding a new toilet block and other features are also on-going at Creggs RFC and will continue in year ahead.
If you are starting out, returning to rugby, or just want to be a part of a great community, come to Creggs Rugby Club. There is always a great welcome in Creggs, and the best of hospitality.
