Creggs 33 – Tuam 0
Creggs welcomed Tuam RFC to Creggs on Sunday afternoon in the midst of storm Fergus.
On a wild blustery very wet day, play was even until Mark Dowd kicked into the Tuam corner in turn giving Creggs a penalty converted by Shane Purcell after 7 minutes. Creggs playing with the wind turned over play in their 22 where centre Mark Purcell kicked the ball 80 metres winning another penalty again converted by Shane Purcell. Within 6 minutes Creggs again worked their way into the Tuam 22 where a scrum won had Mark Dowd score the first try converted by Purcell to put Creggs 13 ahead. Just before half time Mark Purcell kicked another huge kick winning a 50-22 lineout. Taken quickly Captain Brian Diffley got possession and went in for the second try converted by Purcell to go 20 nil ahead.
Creggs kicked off in the second half and after 5 minutes Shane Purcell made a great break leading to a penalty in front of the posts. Shane Purcell takes another 3 pts. On 27 minutes Shane Purcell kicks a great grubber into the Tuam 22 and backs Eoghan Coyle and Mikey Dunne follow at speed turning over the defence and Brian Diffley gets his 2nd try.
Shortly after Eoghan Coyle’s turn came to show his superior athleticism breaking from the halfway line through 5 tackles to score Creggs 4th try left of the posts pushing Creggs 33 clear, finishing the day’s scoring.
Creggs pass on good wishes to a number of injuries on both sides.
