128 teams from 23 clubs learned their fate at last Tuesday night’s 2018/19 Connacht Youth Cups draw in front of a capacity attendance at the Sportsground’s Heineken Rugby Clubhouse.
Over 250 representatives came along to the evening which was held in conjunction with the Club/Player Ambassador Programme from the 2018/19 season. Pro players Colm De Buitlear, Caolin Blade and Jarrad Butler were on hand to help out with the draw for which there were 9 competitions in all.
New for this year is the Under-14 Girls Cup, of which there are 11 teams, with a further 18 teams competing at U16 and U18 level. That means that for the first time almost 25 per cent of the competing teams are female.
The Girls Cup Finals are scheduled for 3rd March 2019 at The Sportsground with the Boys Cup finals pencilled in for the same venue on the weekend of 7th and 14th April 2019 (exact date and kick-off time TBC).
