Connacht Rugby and Creggs RFC are delighted to announce details of a schools Open Training session on Thursday January 30th at 11am in Creggs RFC, Roscommon.
The morning will begin with the full senior squad going through their rugby and conditioning drills on the Creggs RFC home pitch. All children in attendance from the local schools will then be invited to join the players for the remainder of the session which will be headed up by the Connacht Rugby senior coaching staff.
This is Connacht Rugby’s fourth open training session in the current session and follows on from successful trips to Tuam RFC, Westport RFC and Castlebar RFC during preseason. This open session forms part of Connacht Rugby’s Outreach and Engagement Programme which will see them hold an open training session in all five counties of the province.
Team Leader, Ronan Loughney commented on the visit:
“We’re really looking forward to visiting Creggs. Every one of us is aware of and appreciates the support that we get from all over the province and this is our opportunity to meet some of those young supporters and give something back.
“Creggs RFC has a great reputation in the province for its thriving youths section and secondary school rugby. This open session is a great occasion for us to lend our support and see first-hand the hard work and talent prevailing in the area.”
It is free entry for all children and accompanying adults and the day will consist of fun rugby drills and games with the Connacht players. There will also be a chance for autographs and photos as well as a chat with the Connacht coaches and squad.
Kids are advised to bring their rugby gear.
