Ballina 19 Creggs 13
Ballina edged out Creggs by six points in a closely fought game in Heffernan Park, Ballina last Sunday to reach the Connacht Plate Final. Creggs began the game brightly with some good carries by Edward Clinton. Tom Oates and Simon Spain led to a skip pass from Shane Dowd finding Michael Feeley in space on the wing. He crossed the line for a unconverted try and soon Creggs were back on the attack again moving the ball through centres Rory O’Brolachain, Conor Gore and Michael Farrell to Kevin Gavin. He managed to break through a few tackles to score a second try which was also unconverted. Before half time some weak tackling by Creggs let Ballina in for a try leaving Creggs ahead 10 points to 5 at the break. The second half saw a bigger Ballina forward pack dominate proceedings despite the valiant efforts of Brian Coady, Sean Doorly and Edward Clinton. Creggs only score of the second half was a good ling range penalty from outhalf Shane Dowd leaving the final score Ballina 19 Creggs 13.
