Creggs 12 Corinthians 24

A disappointing result for Creggs U.15s on Sunday in Creggs. They played Corinthians RFC in the league. Despite applying all the pressure in the first 10 minutes Creggs had no score to show for it and on their first meaningful attack Corinthians scored in the corner and added an excellent conversion. The visitors followed this up 4 minutes later with a similar try and conversion from a difficult angle to leave Creggs chasing the game from early on. The team did settle for the next while and some good line breaks but still couldn’t put anything on the scoreboard. In the final 5 minutes of the half, defending their own line following sustained Corinthians pressure and finally cracked after being penalised for a high tackle leading to a try, with a half time score 19 –nil.

The second half started with Creggs on the front foot applying pressure on the visitors and were rewarded with a Robbie McArdle try after 10 minutes which was converted by Harry Waldron. Creggs looked to add to this but despite having possession in the Corinthians 22 they just couldn’t add to the tally. After 22 minutes Creggs were punished for a lack of discipline and conceded another try, now trailing by 17 points. Creggs finished on the front foot and some excellent phase play saw Patrick Zwiercywk cut the deficit with another try. Final score Creggs 12 Corinthians 24. The final league game is home to Westport in 2 weeks time.
