Creggs U14 boys travelled to Ballina for round two in the cup. An early kick off coupled with the long journey saw the home team getting off to a flying start scoring an early try, converted to lead by 7. Creggs started to settle into the game and with a super try from Ryan Lynch reduced the lead to 7-5. Ballina got on top again scoring twice to extend the lead to 19 – 5. Creggs started to take control of the game from the twentieth minute and another fine try from Ryan Lynch left the half time score Ballina 19 Creggs 10.Creggs started the second half strongly with Tom Óg Reddington scoring to reduce the lead to 19-15. Creggs were really putting the Ballina defence under pressure and but they were defiant when phase after phase finally saw the extremely hard working Austin Smith breaking through to score the winning try with the final score Ballina 19 Creggs 20. This was an extremely hard fought victory and credit to both teams for a tough but sporting game. The next game is away to Claremorris on March 2nd.
