Ballina RFC 10 Creggs RFC 34

Creggs u14’s travelled to Ballina on Sunday morning in an U14 league came and came away with the points in a 34-10 victory. although Creggs pulled away in the second half this was a competitive game throughout and Creggs had to fight all the way in this encounter.

Ballina started the game the better and scored after five minutes however Creggs eventually got their game going and scored tries through Nathan Feeney, Cian Gately and Niall Cunniffe in the first half to leave the half time score 19-5.

Ballina again started the second half well and when Creggs failed to find touch from a clearance they scored a try to leave the score 19-10. Creggs went back up the field and increased their lead to 22-10 with a penalty from Niall Cunniffe. Creggs were feeding off mistakes from Ballina and their back line were moving the ball wide very quick and putting their opponents under pressure out wide by good passing through the hands of Ronan Dowd, Shane Purcell, Jason Hoare and Callum Fahey. The next two scores were scored by Niall Cunniffe when he intercepted in midfield to score under the posts and followed that up by running a try in from 30 metres when Creggs Backs moved the ball from a Ballina mistake.

The Creggs forwards showed very well especially in the second half where Brian Maloney, James Brandon, Oisin Mcconn, David O Gorman and Danny Arnold got through a lot of work. It was good to see players such as Thomas Hester and Callum Fahey come back from injuries and contribute well to the win also. Creggs continue their league campaign and are away next Sunday against Sligo RFC on Sunday 25th of November time TBC.
