U14 A League Final:
Corinthians 10 Creggs 5
Hard luck to the Creggs U14 team who suffered their first defeat of the season losing 10-5 in the final of the U14 A league on Sunday in Castlebar. Creggs were very unlucky early in the game when they missed an early penalty and dropped the ball going over the line after some early pressure. Against the run of play Corinthians went down the pitch and got a penalty which they converted. Straight from the kick off Corinthians scored a try which they converted giving them a 10-0 lead. After this Creggs took over for the rest of the half and scored a try before half time through James Brandon, leaving the half time score 10-5.
The whole of the second half Creggs were camped in the Corinthians half and on another day would have taken their opportunities but they were penalised a few times when only 5 metres from the line and Corinthians defended very well for long periods.
The cup campaign starts the week after next when Creggs have a home tie against Sligo and will hope to build on their excellent season thus far
